In the City of Long Beach, it is unlawful for a landlord to discriminate against or harass a tenant or a potential tenant based upon any of the following:
Race
Age
Nationality
Parenthood
Gender
Religion
Disability
Marriage
Sexual Preference
Ethnic Background
Pregnancy
Source of Income
Sexual Orientation
Occupancy by Child
HIV/AIDS

Source of Income Discrimination
Rental subsidy programs, including Section 8 of the Housing Act of 1937 (commonly called "Section 8"), allow qualifying households to receive rent subsidies which are
paid directly to their landlords.
It is illegal for a landlord to refuse to rent to an
applicant just because they receive rent subsidies from Section 8 or other rental subsidy programs.
Persons who believe they are the victim of such Source of Income Discrimination should report any such violation.
